STAMPING CUTOFF DETECTION

- Toolpresse is part of the project Stamping Cutoff Detection -

  • Stamping Cutoff Detection – Innovative anomaly detection system for stamped parts - is a project that aims to investigate and develop an anomaly detection system for stamped parts, through sensors incorporated in the means of production that allow the detection of blunts immediately inside the tool.
  • The appearance of anomalies during the stamping process on the components made is particularly important as a factor of inefficiency in the operation and consumption of resources.
  • One of the frequent anomalies in the stamping process are blunt marks. The occurrence of this phenomenon is of random and unpredictable nature, and implies the loss of the components produced and the raw material used.
  • Considering the frequency of this phenomenon and its impact on the economy of companies, it is vital to develop methods that minimize the consequences of this defect.
  • The purpose of this project is to investigate and develop a system for detecting the presence of blunts in the tool during the stamping process and that stops the machine tool system autonomously and immediately, to allow the operator to remove the blunt inside of the tool.
  • The proposed methodology is based on:
  • - The analysis of the factors that cause the blunt to remain inside the tool;
  • - The development of a system for detecting the presence of blunts in the tool;
  • - The integration of the blunt detection system with the means of production in a reliable way and its integration with the current control system of the existing stamping process and, finally, its integration in the rest of the production control monitoring system.
